Leadership in Ministry Starts Here.

This initiative seeks to combine both elements with a residency in a church setting and an MDiv education in an excellent seminary debt-free.

Our Mission

Academic preparation for ministry does not always prepare a person for the practical
application of ministry. Serving in a church setting without educational preparation can
give practical insight but does not give the academic preparation for theological
background and personal understanding. This initiative seeks to combine both
elements with a residency in a church setting and an M.Div. education in an excellent
seminary debt-free.

Paid Residency

Our paid residency is to train leaders who will serve a three-year fellowship with a teaching church while receiving a theological education from Winebrenner Theological Seminary, without the burden of raising one’s own funds. At the end of the three year fellowship process, the fellow will be placed in a ministry situation that fits his or her strengths and preparation. They will be asked to serve at least three years within the Churches of God based on the Fellowship Committee’s recommendation.

Full-Ride Scholarship

The Great Lakes Conference Churches of God Fellowship Initiative has been developed
to prepare leaders who will make a difference in churches, the conference and the
world. The Initiative will provide a full-ride scholarship to select students who will attend at Winebrenner Theological Seminary. The seminary was established in 1942 as a graduate school of divinity of Findlay College (renamed The University of Findlay in 1989).  In 1961, Winebrenner received its charter from the State of Ohio, to become an independent, degree-granting institution.
